Medicine Lake

We just got back from our vacation to Medicine Lake - we had a blast. Haylie had tons of fun hunting for froggies, riding in the boat, and tubing. The weather couldn't have been better. Eric had fun trapping chipmunks - which Haylie's Uncle Clark taught her to call "chip-monkeys" - so cute. He also got to do some waterskiing and tubing, boat repairs, etc. I had a great time reading, basking in the sun, and relaxing! I also got to shoot a new gun...a .38 Special. I don't think I was very accurate with it, but it sure was fun to shoot!! I have lots of pictures to show - so I put them on an album instead of attaching them directly to my blog...click below!

Bedtime Stories

Haylie has been falling out of bed a lot the last few nights...I'm not sure why but we're prepared now. Notice the two Spongebob pillows on the floor - they break her fall. I keep finding her snuggled up to the pillows in the middle of the night. Last night we found her hanging off the bed - almost ready to fall out. Then later I found her in the middle of the room curled up in a little tiny ball. Just had to share!

Pretty Squares

I'm posting this specifically for my mom...she'll be so excited to hear that her granddaughter just may have a knack for quilting too! Last Saturday, Haylie found my stock pile of scrap quilting squares and had a blast organizing them on the floor - she'd hold up a square and say "oooh, pretty!" and lay it down. She spent at least an hour in there organizing and rearranging the squares. How cute is this picture???

Summer Fun

Here are some pictures of Eric and Haylie in the pool in our back yard trying desperately to keep cool in the 105 degree heat! Also some from the 4th of July at a friend's pool. Sometimes I think Haylie is part fish - she loves the water - and has no fear. I have had 3 dreams now where I am rescuing her from the water because she just jumped in even though she does not know how to swim. We keep a life jacket on her when we are in big pools for that reason!

Mascara

So I like to attach pictures to my blogs - and oh how I wish I had a picture to go along with this story! But...I will explain. A few days ago, Haylie had wandered down the hall and was pretty quiet for a while (silence usually means trouble!!). I went to check on her and found her in the bathroom, sitting on her stool, playing with a mascara bottle I had just thrown away. So, it was mostly dried up but still had some mascara in it. She had opened it and spread it all over her face - mostly around her mouth - I think she may have thought it was lipstick. So I couldn't help but laugh because she really thought she was making herself pretty with Mommy's makeup. I decided to hold her up to the mirror so she could see how funny she looked...well, she did not think it was very funny. She started bawling at the sight of her dirty face. I wanted sooo badly to take a picture of her, but she was seriously distraught, so, I felt too bad leaving her there to go get the camera...now I am regretting it, but thought I'd share the funny story anyway.
