Haylie turned 2 yesterday! We decided not to do a big party and just have a fun time as a family. Her favorite gifts: a little Dora car that she can drive, a lawnmower, a Mater plush toy that talks, and a Sally plush toy. I think one of the cutest things I have ever seen is Haylie pushing her lawnmower around the yard at the same time as Eric was actually mowing the lawn. It took him a good 20-30 minutes to mow the whole lawn and she was right there with him the whole time. I got it all on video and will upload it one of these days. I made cupcakes instead of a whole cake, and for some reason, she wouldn't hold the cupcake with her hands. So there it was on the table, and she started by licking the frosting off the top, then taking bites off the top, all without ever handling the cupcake with her hands! She finally did pick it up and shove it in her mouth - very cute. She didn't really seem to have much concept of what this birthday thing really was - but she liked the presents!! I just can't believe she's 2 years old already.

Potty Stories
I started potty training Haylie in January. She was 22 months. I know...brave...or is it stupid...? Well, she was giving me many signs she was ready - and really did remarkably well. We spent a lot of time in our tiny little bathroom, but it all paid off. I went back to work part time (temporarily) in March and Haylie began going to a daycare - once she saw other children going potty, it clicked. She's been doing great ever since. Yesterday, when she was supposed to be taking her nap, I could hear her banging around in her room. When I went in to check on her, she was sitting on her potty seat that had been put away in her closet. She had gone peepee on the potty, but unfortunately it all went on the floor because it was just the top of the potty seat, not the bowl. She was all proud of herself that she had gone. I said "Are you SERIOUS??" and she looks up at me all cutely and says "YUP!!". Sometimes its hard to be mad.

Our first blog...
Well, I am going to attempt to use this blog as a family journal to document fun trips, milestones, and other interesting family happenings. I haven't written in my journal since the day before Eric and I got married..hmm....hopefully this will help me keep things updated. Happy reading!
