And here's another video that isn't as funny as it is sad...however, it is amusing to watch...what is the world coming to? Get an education, people!!

A Good Day

I don't have much to say, but I think it is important to recognize and appreciate the good days when they happen. Not that I have a whole lot of BAD days...probably just average days. Anyway, Haylie's been going through a phase lately where, as soon as she wakes up, she wants fruit snacks or cookies. We don't eat fruit snacks or cookies for breakfast in this house, so for the last couple weeks, each day has started out with a major meltdown - that's not fun before 8:00 a.m. Well, today, no meltdown - yippee! Haylie's cousin Tyler came over for a playdate and they played very well together - I even made homemade play-doh!! Then came naptime - she didn't want to go to bed, but I just put her in bed and closed her door. A few minutes passed, then I heard the door open, heard her go potty, flush the toilet, close her door again, and soon she was asleep! THEN, after about an hour, she got up (she usually sleeps for about 2 hours) and wanted juice. I said, "OK, you can have some juice, but then you need to go back to bed". Hahaha, I thought - like THAT is going to happen. So, she drank her juice, walked down the hall, crawled back in bed and slept for 2 more hours!! I was shocked! When she got up, what did she ask for? Cantaloupe! A healthy snack! I am so proud of her. It's days like these that make me sooo grateful to be a mom and so grateful for the sweet spirit that I have been entrusted to raise. Looking forward to a similar tomorrow *knock on wood*.

Amendment to "Quilting Retreat" blog

It has come to my attention that I need to show some love for my dad (aka Grandpa Garry) for watching 5 grandchildren while "the girls" (my mom, sister, sister-in-law, and I) were on our quilting reatreat back at the beginning of August. So, Dad, this is for you. I really really appreciate you taking the time to care for my child when there were so many other things you could have been doing (playing golf, playing solitaire, playing WiiSports, etc.). I even heard that there was one night that Haylie had some trouble going to sleep and you laid with her and traced her face to help her fall asleep. That is so sweet and I was so touched when I heard that. You also watched Finding Nemo with her while Eric and I were at my reunion (see pic). Haylie loves her Grandpa, and I love my daddy.

PS...this may sound sarcastic but it's all true. Love you Dad!

A Shout-Out to a Very Funny Mom

My sister in law just showed me this link to an ebay auction and I just had to repost it. The woman who did the ebay auction also has a blog - she is hilarious...

10 Year High School Reunion

I never thought I would go to my high school reunion. I didn't like high school much. I had a few good friends in lots of different cliques but nothing about the experience was fantastic for me. I don't really know what people thought of me - sometimes I think that I was a big nerd, other times I think that I was a big nobody. But really, I don't think anybody thought about me at all. Anyway, I did manage to stay in touch with a few good friends and when I found out they were going to the reunion, I decided it would be fun to go and see them again. My baby bump is starting to show, so of course I had to go shopping and find a dress that would show it off appropriately. I found the perfect outfit at Target and felt really good about seeing all those people from my past. I had soo much fun. And, as it turns out, I don't think I was a big nerd OR a big nobody - I think I was an average likeable gal. I guess I have a bit of an inferiority complex or something - I kinda thought people would forget about me - or not recognize me - but there were people who were actually looking forward to seeing me - it made me feel sooo good! Anyway, here are some pictures of my old pals! The first one is just me and Eric (and Haylie too); the second is me, Anna, Christi, and Janelle; the third is me, John, Anna, and Mike - we were all in the same 1st grade class together! Now THAT is a reunion!!

Reader's Digest

I've caught Haylie on about 3 different occasions in the last week sitting on the potty "reading" the Reader's Digest...I just about died laughing...wonder where she could have learned to do that?

Quilting Retreat

This is a picture of my sister-in-law Jenn, my sister Katherine and me. We were on a quilting retreat with my mom at her cabin. Unfortunately we didn't have anyone to take our picture so my mom is behind the camera. The blue quilt is the one I worked on - I started it last September...maybe I'll be finished with it by THIS september!!! Up above is Haylie in my parents' pool - she would stand on the ladder and jump off into the pool - she's actually learning to "swim" with her little life jacket on. Also a picture of Haylie with her cousins and her great grandparents. My niece McKaylynn is holding Haylie - she babysat Haylie for me a lot while I went and played with my mom and sister - I wanted to bring her home with me - she was sooo helpful!
